Editorial Guidelines
Last updated: November 8, 2026
Every article on Pin Pretty Ideas follows the same process before it goes live. This page explains how we choose ideas, check information, credit creators, handle images and keep posts up to date, so you always know what you’re reading.
What We Stand For
Our goal is to turn the beauty ideas you save into looks you can actually create. That means nail, hair and makeup ideas that work on real hands, real hair textures and real budgets, with honest notes on difficulty, time and what you’ll need. A look that only works with professional tools or perfect lighting isn’t helpful, so we always explain how to adapt it at home.
From Idea to Published Post
- Topic selection: We choose topics based on reader questions, seasons and holidays, Pinterest and search trends, and gaps where existing beauty advice falls short.
- Purpose: Each post starts with a clear reader goal, such as “easy fall nails for short nails” or “heatless curls that last all day.”
- Research: We look at techniques from working nail artists and stylists, brand instructions, ingredient and safety information, and hands-on testing where possible.
- Drafting: Each section must give a usable idea, a clear step or a helpful tip. No filler.
- Fact-checking: Product names, shades, ingredients, instructions and safety notes are checked against the brand’s own information.
- Editorial review: Jessica Hayes reviews every post for accuracy, clarity, tone and usefulness.
- Images and formatting: Posts get clear headings, short sections and images that show the look, with creators credited.
- Final check: Links, credits, disclosures and grammar are confirmed before publishing.
Who Writes and Reviews
Pin Pretty Ideas is led by Jessica Hayes, Founder & Editor, who sets the site’s standards and reviews every article. Jessica has spent years trying saved beauty ideas at home, from DIY manicures to everyday updos, and every post is shaped by what actually works outside of a salon. When guest contributors write for us, their work is edited and checked to the same standard, and we may revise or decline pieces that don’t meet it.
How We Choose Sources
We prefer primary sources: a brand’s own product page, ingredient list and usage instructions, and safety guidance from manufacturers and reputable dermatology organizations. We cross-check with established beauty publications. Claims we can’t verify are removed or clearly labeled as opinion, and we never make medical claims about products.
Images and Creator Credit
We use our own photos, licensed stock images, design-tool graphics and properly credited images from nail artists, stylists and makeup artists. When we feature a creator’s work, we credit them and link to their profile whenever possible. Images that are edited, filtered or AI-assisted are labeled so you’re never misled about how a look will turn out.
Safety Comes First
Beauty posts include safety notes where they matter: patch testing, ventilation with nail products, gel lamp and UV care, heat protection, and gentle removal of gels, acrylics and extensions. We don’t give advice on treating skin, scalp or nail conditions. For those, we always recommend seeing a dermatologist.
Use of AI Tools
We may use AI tools to help brainstorm, organize research or polish grammar. AI is never used to publish content automatically. Every post is written or substantially shaped by a person and goes through human review and fact-checking before it goes live.
Editorial Independence
Looks, products and techniques appear because they suit the article and our readers, not because of payment. Brands have no say in what we recommend.
Affiliate Links and Sponsored Posts
Pin Pretty Ideas is not monetized yet: there are no ads, affiliate links or sponsored posts on the site today. If we add them in the future, every affiliate link and sponsored post will be clearly disclosed, as explained on our Disclaimer page.
Keeping Posts Current
We review evergreen posts every 6 to 12 months, and seasonal and trend posts before each season. Updates may replace discontinued products, refresh trends, fix broken links, update images or rewrite advice that no longer fits. Meaningful updates are reflected in the post’s “Last updated” date.
Corrections and Feedback
Spotted an error, a discontinued product or a broken link? Use our Contact page, choose “Correction,” and include the article URL and the issue. We review valid corrections within 72 hours.
